BREAKING BARRIERS WITH KENZO FASHION

Kenzo Takada had a career in which he tore down many invisible walls, broke barriers and conventions. He always followed his instinct and his passion for fashion. Against the wishes of his parents, he enrolled in the Bunka Fashion School in Tokyo, being one of the first men to be admitted. After a few years of working for Asian companies, he traveled to Paris, where he settled and began working for some brands and even got the designer Louis Feraud to accept five of his creations. In 1970 his first boutique, “Jungle Jap”, came to light. Kenzo not only managed to be a "stranger" accepted in the Parisian fashion scene, then monopolized by two brands, but he challenged the aesthetic conventions of the time with dresses and suits with exaggerated shapes, combinations of pieces, and striking colors. His collections, initially feminine, were growing, as well as his popularity. Later he began to design clothes for men, children, and perfumes. He paved the way for many of the big fashion brands that would come later and created a unique and personal style that has been part of the most important fashion runways in the world still today, even after his retirement in 1999.
